Woman Guilty of Manslaughter For Killing Boyfriend With Air Rifle

Brandi George of Cocoa, Florida plead guilty to manslaughter for killing her boyfriend with an air rifle during a domestic dispute. According to Ms. George, her boyfriend “was attacking her, threatening her, yelling at her and threw a bottle at her.”

The defense was claiming Ms. George was innocent citing the Florida’s Stand Your Ground law. Stand Your Ground laws provides that people may use deadly force when they reasonably believe it to be necessary to defend against certain violent crimes.

However, Ms. George had methamphetamine at the scene of the crime and attempted to hide the drugs and cleaning up the scene before contacting police. Ms. George was taken into custody for Felony violations after the incident. Originally the defense claimed self defense but and later Ms. George plead guilty to the charge of manslaughter.

According to police the victim suffered a single shot to the chest from a .177 caliber pellet rifle capable of shooting 1300 feet per second.
